Summit County Elected Officials Announce Intention to Run for Reelection
Breckenridge, CO, January 13, 2010: On a beautiful Wednesday morning in Summit County, a group of local supporters gathered on the steps of the Old County Court House Building to hear from current county office holders about their plans for the 2010 elections. Sheriff John Minor, Coroner Joanne Richardson, Clerk Kathy Neel, Surveyor Gary Wilkinson, Treasurer Bill Wallace and a representative for Assessor Beverly Breakstone were all there to announce their intentions to seek reelection in 2010.
The crowd of about 20 people listened intently as each candidate expressed thanks for the turnout and support for their efforts during the current term of office. Treasurer, Bill Wallace led off the candidates’ presentation with his heartfelt thanks for the trust we place in him to manage our counties finances. Having lived in Summit County since 1966 and working as a professional land surveyor, Surveyor Gary Wilkinson provides the experience necessary to meet the demands of his office. As the newly appointed Clerk & Recorder, Kathy Neel has been with the office since 1995 and has been the chief deputy county clerk since 1997. She is confident that her expertise enables her to lead the office as the elected Clerk. Coroner Joanne Richardson is running for her third term as coroner and enjoys the challenges of helping families through the crises of losing a loved one. Setting a higher standard for her office, Joanne also serves on the state board of standards & training for coroners. Sheriff John Minor asks his officers and himself every day if he has served the county well. He trusts that we will keep him in the job only if we truly feel he has served the community. From their presentations, it is clear that Summit County has a dedicated group of elected officials who enjoy their jobs and seek to do the best they can for the community.
